Law and Society
Please be patient while information here is updated. Mujeeb has a strong interest in law, especially in how law is constructed, its meaning, and how it is practiced. On this latter point, he is interested in how legal precedents are created, understood, and transformed through time.
He holds a personal interest in the legal schools of the Islamic tradition and has also studied the modern Japanese legal tradition intensively. His multiyear project is to master the Islamic, Japanese, and American legal traditions both in their modern and premodern usage.
More information on the project will follow as he conducts research on these tradition. See his recent news for an exploratory talk on modernity and its relationship to premodern culture and law within the context of Egypt and Japan.
